Disciple of the Garden, Scarhaven, Frog Alley Brewing
Rock, Ahead of and Behind The Times
A few weeks ago, I caught Disciple of the Garden and ScarHaven at Frog Alley Brewing. It ended up being a pretty great night.
Disciple of the Garden delivered exactly what you’d want from a Chris Cornell tribute band. They ran through the songs you’d expect and brought a thick, 90s grunge energy with them—loud, unapologetic, and fun. It wasn’t just imitation; it felt like a genuine appreciation for music, played with conviction.
ScarHaven performed their own material, and I’ll admit, they surprised me. The lead singer, Michael Saint, has both the voice and the power behind it to command a much larger venue. You could sense it—the kind of presence that feels slightly restrained only because the room itself is small. I kept thinking that if they were in front of a bigger crowd, feeding off that energy, they might have brought the whole place down.
Lyrically, their songs lean into the kind of teenage angst you’d expect from a band inspired by the 90s. That part didn’t resonate with me as much anymore. But musically? These guys have the chops. There’s real potential there. With the right stage and the right moment, they could easily become a powerhouse.
