Anchor Park (Hawkwood Mansion)

Anchor Park (Hawkwood Mansion December 3, 2025 What is Hawkwood Mansion Hawkwood Mansion was a large estate located in what is today Anchor Diamond Park. The house dates back to the late 1700s, originally built by Henry Walton. In the 1830s it became known as the Delevan Farm, owned by the affluent Edward Delevan family. In the 1880s it was purchased by the wealthy Guy Ellis Baker (and his family), who renamed the estate “Hawkwood.”  Vintage Grandeur and Prominence Back in its […]

A Weekend at Thompson’s Lake

A Weekend at Thompson’s Lake August 30, 2025 Sometimes the adventures are closer to home than you think. My lady and I decided to try a new spot for a weekend getaway — Thompson’s Lake Campground. It’s just a short drive from where we live, but neither of us had ever been there before. The Good One of the best parts of the trip was canoeing around the lake. The water was calm, the shoreline green and inviting, and at […]

A Hidden Gem: Wolf Creek Falls Preserve

A Hidden Gem: Wolf Creek Falls Preserve August 30, 2025 Charm and Character Wolf Creek Falls Preserve is one of those hidden little gems you’re always hoping to find. It isn’t the longest or the most challenging trail out there, but what it lacks in length, it more than makes up for in charm and character. The trail winds through a peaceful forest, with the gentle sound of cascading water accompanying you nearly the whole way. Several small waterfalls and […]

Buttermilk Falls, Yatesville Creek

Away back in the Middle Ages people used to go on pilgrimages to the Holy Land, and when people in the villages through which they passed asked where they were going, they would reply, ‘A la sainte terre,’ ‘To the Holy Land.’ And so they became known as […]

Moreau Lake Photos

Aside from lady claiming I couldn’t take a proper selfie, my hike on the trail at Moreau State lake was rather pleasant. We had the dogs and weren’t fully prepared for the trail so unfortunately we didn’t make it to the top. However, that didn’t stop us from having a great time and snapping a few photos.

Bash Bish Falls Photos

Some photos I snapped during my summer 2023 hike to Bash Bish Falls. This was an amazing sight. The cascade is by far the largest I’ve visited, though I did feel it lost something due to the amount of signage around the area. Where as some of my other excursions have taken me to places that felt unique and off the beaten path, this place almost felt touristy. None-the-less, the falls are gorgeous and Chloe had a great time in […]
